

What We Do
This group was formed in 2023 on the request of the UK Space Agency as a result of In Situ Resource Utilisation being highlighted as a priority area in the 2021 National Space Strategy and 2023 Space Exploration Technology Roadmap.
The group is run independently of UKSA and aims to represent the UK ISRU community as a whole.
Develop Understanding of the UK ISRU Landscape
To develop an understanding of the UK’s capabilities, opportunities, and needs regarding In-Situ Resource Utilisation research and technological development.
Counsel Government Agencies
To counsel the UK Space Agency and other Governmental bodies on ISRU related opportunities and matters of interest.
Expand the Community
To grow the ISRU community to include as many of the UK organisations active in the ISRU sector as possible.
Maximise Benefits of ISRU Technologies
To identify and maximise the benefits arising from ISRU technologies in space exploration and terrestrially to the broader industrial and academic community, and to identify potential routes for spin-off applications.
Support Outreach Activities
To identify and develop potential outreach opportunities for technologies, systems, and missions.
Communicate Information to the ISRU Community
To communicate and share relevant information with industry, academia, space agencies, educational communities, and those with an interest in ISRU activities. An annual open ISRU meeting will be arranged by the Group.
Point of Contact
To act as a point of contact for organisations requiring ISRU expertise.
